SOLD: Antique West African Loom Beater for Baule Weaving
$89.00
I was fortunate to find one of these at the Tucson Gem Show. This likely dates from the early 1900s and is a combination beater and heddle used in a loom for Baule weaving. It was hand made in the Ivory Coast. It was likely used in the weaving of long strips of cloth that were sewn together to make a larger, more useful piece of cloth. In addition to being functional, it stands on its own as a work of art and is perfect for display. It measures approximately 9.5 x 7.5 inches.
